Karela bharva
ingredients
- 250 gms karela (bitter gourd)
- 20 gms ginger garlic paste
- 100 gms onions (ground to a paste)
- 20 gms / 1 heaped tbsp Barbat Masala (ground to a smooth paste)
- Imli pulp – 1 tsp
- Jaggery pulp – 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- 100 gms oil for cooking
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
instructions
- Peel karelas roughly.
- Apply haldi and salt, keep for some time, then boil in water till 3/4th cooked.
- Fill the karelas with Barbat Masala.
- Heat oil in a kadhai.
- Add onion paste and ginger garlic paste, cook till golden brown.
- Add remaining Barbat Masala paste and fry till oil separates.
- Add the filled karelas to the kadhai and cook well.
- Add tamarind pulp, jaggery pulp, and salt to taste.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
